Determining Storage Needs
Determining storage needs is usually very straight forward. Most users store
their important files in the My Documents folder.
*Note, this service provides
multiple
versioning of documents. As new versions of documents are stored for your
retrieval, additional space is required. We recommend selecting a Storage Quota
which is a minimum of 50% greater then your current total file size and
recommends a quota which is 2x the size of your current disk usage.
1. To begin determining your storage needs,
right-click on the My Documents folder
and select Properties. This is likely your primary
source of files. If files are not stored in the My Documents folder,
substitute that directory here.
2. This will open the Properties window.
The General tab displays the total size of the folder
in MB or GB (1000 MB).
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for additional
data directories.
4. To account for increasing files and multiple
versioning it is recommended that the following equation is used to
determine account quota:
Minimum Suggested: Current Disk Usage x 1.5 = Account Quota
Recommended: Current Disk Usage x 2 = Account Quota
The Over Quota Protection option allows users to pay for additional
space in a prorated manner. This option protects users from running out
of space while avoiding the unnecessary expense of a paying for a larger
quota.
If Over Quota Protection is enabled we recommend selecting a
quota which is equal to the current disk usage.
